Goji berries are the fruit of the perennial plant Lycium barbarum. Goji berries are small, oval shaped and a bright red colour. These delicious berries aren’t called a super food for no reason! They have been used in Chinese medicine remedies for over 5,000 years. It is believed that goji berries increase “chi” the vital life force of those that eat them.
Goji berries are naturally full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants which are said to contribute greatly to building up the immune system, better your eyesight and help protect your liver.
You can eat them straight from the packet, add to muesli’s, granola mix, trail mix, cereals, smoothies, or fruit and nut bars. Due to their mild sweetness and chewy texture these beautiful berries can be sprinkled over yoghurt for a delicious snack or breakfast. Or alternatively you can also soak them in hot water to make a nutritious tea.
